Ok, I still don't have some fun quip about life, or what this blog is about to put here. Someday - perhaps tomorrow perhaps two years from tomorrow - I will figure it out. Until then, see my randomness below.

I am the STAR SPANGLED Queer

Let me start with a little shout out to my friends - I think Abra and Linus hit their 07-04 comments out of the park.

And now, a word from your host - Maybe it is just me and this whole coming out process thinggy, but did anyone else notice that PRIDE month ends 4 days before independence day? Just checking.

Actually there are a lot of similarities between PRIDE and this nation's INDEPENDENCE DAY. (at least for me - don't worry I'll stick to the big ones) Number the first, I think a lot of people out there get the holiday wrong. (And I don't mean wrong like celebrating Jesus' birthday on the Yule kind of wrong) In my happy little opinion people could care less that we founded the first nation in the world based on the ideas of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Most people who celebrate our nation's freedom by blowing things up could care less that in our history we have greatly expanded who gets to have life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Post 9-11 that problem comes from the top down. PRIDE is largely treated as the same by people who ask, "so you are proud of being gay?" No FUCKER. I am proud to have the confidence in myself to stand up and let the world know who I am without fear.

Number the second, to me it's about celebrating those who stand up and fight for our freedoms. PRIDE is about fighting for, and celebrating the fight for equal civil rights for all us queers. ID is about celebrating the fact that we can have pride/PRIDE without having to check with the king first. (So let's fire George W. and keep it that way)

Am I oversimplifying this - YES! DUH! If I was to go into this whole discussion I would kill at least one blogger server. Am I going to piss people off. I HOPE SO!

Everyone go out and find one thing that makes them happy to live in America on your day off. For me it was the ability to set with my gay pagan friends, watch fireworks, and say things like "this music makes me crave showtunes" or "look at the bunny, he's so close, that's because we are all so connected with nature."

Congratulations Travis! That was a first class sermon - perhaps you need to be ordained also! :)
